WANTED: Service info for 1969 RCA 2000

If anyone has the manual I would gladly buy it. I would even settle for a PDF right now but the actual manual is preferred. Thanks!

Hi Mark,
I just might have it! Please refresh my memory of the Chassis and / or Model Number, I never saw one in person! I did get a good deal of RCA Service Literature earlier this year, so I can check over the weekend.

CTC-47 is in the RCA2000. Kinda, sorta like the CTC40 and 44 - tripler (actually a quadrupler) instead of direct fed HV Rectifier in the 40. Sams only has the schematic (1086-SED). Service data wasn't a "Push" item to service dealers, so it's extremely rare. Someone here has the service lit, IIRC, and might digitize it for you.

I may have the Sams SED. Also have an RCA manual on "how it works"
for the SCR sweep curcuit from the early days. Let me know if you
are interested for postage & a few bucks & I will see what I have.

BTW Gotta be honest. I could never wrap my head around the SCR
sweep. I even reread the training a year ago & no joy. Only
thing worse for me is the NAP C-3, a genuine over engineered
POS. Thank God the SCR sweep only had easy problems.........

If that SCR sweep 'how it works' manual applies to the CTC-48 and CTC-68 chassis I could use a copy....A friend has one with no HV that was his grandpa's set still in it's original home that he wants to get working.

Trigger........commutate. Two separate circuits. One turns on Sweep, one turns off sweep during retrace. Got no sweep, ckt breaker doesn't trip? Either circuit. Got popping circuit breaker? Pull the trace SCR and plug the set in. If breaker stays in, Trace ckt likely the problem. If ckt breaker pops, the retrace/commutate SCR or it's RC ckt has an open (no gating to SCR). CTC40 and Vertical XL100 chassis had their own top-10 gripes. In all the servicing, never a bad coil, usually caps(leaky) or resistors(open) - and the solder connections at the wire/borad interface pins on the CTC40, and MAH module sockets (split) on the XL100's.

RCA had some good Goldenrods on the CTC40s - lots of useful SCR sweep troubleshooting info. Some RCA info made it into ET-Dealer and PF Reporter articles.

The CTC47? Mostly tuning info, as it was the first non-mechanical tuner for RCA...

We had the little homebuilt-from-Sony-service-schematic SCS/SCR checker - push one button and it fires the SCR, and you could see the response on a scope if you triggered the scope and SCS/SCR with the same trigger. Push another, and a cap (.013/.015uf) discharges/reverses polarity on the cathode, and the SCS/SCR commutates if good. Go/NoGo at it's best.

Awesome! Thanks gentlemen, any help with this beast is appreciated. Lemme know via PM or here, if anyone comes up with something. I'm also looking for the remote control but I have a feeling that'll be a long search...

I tried to digitize it over the weekend, but it didn't turn out quite right. I will try again. Biggest problem is computer is at one end of the house and the scanner at the other. I didn't get a page size setting right and only got partial pages. It is only 58 pages.

I possibly have a lead on an original copy for price of postage. If that falls through, we can pursue digitizing a copy. Thank you very much!

Do you have a G2000? If so, this forum is way overdue for some innards photos.....

Some photos were posted in 2006/2007 threads, but have long been deleted...

Yes I do. I bought the one in Maryland on ebay with the necked CRT for 99 cents. It's now in my storage unit. It's in much better shape than everyone thought. I'm glad they all passed because of the CRT. It was said to be working up until it was necked, I'll be able to sort through it soon I hope. Too cold to play with it in storage. Should have a place pretty soon, I'm apartment hunting.

Once you get the service info, take a look at the remote transmitter number, a CRK### part number - that is the key to locating a remote for your set......
