Visio M550NV no-boot

I got in good with the local e-waste guy, says I can take flat panels from the pile and he won't know who I am. lol

So I grab the biggest one I can find, and at first when I plug the thing in the logo alternates from white to yellow indicating a problem. So I pop off the back and check the power supply, which is actually good. I stimulate the power on terminal by jumpering 5v to the power on pin and the backlight springs to life confirming the screen isn't shattered, but there's nothing actually on screen. Laid it down and I can hear what sounds like a sizzle coming from an enclosed metal box on the main board which I believe contains the main processor, can't troubleshoot that so I look for one online. $150! Does anyone know of any tricks to repair this board, or am I down to scavenging one from another set?

Need a new jog board too, the connector is broken.

Try ebay? Maybe you can score a board from one with a shattered screen.

Boards for this are hard to find, but after a few days of Internet searching I found a place that sold me a board for $150. The set is now hanging in my living room making a great picture.

With those Vizios, the EEPROM gets corrupted and the set tries to operate in many modes at once. Replacing the System board with the eeprom on it will fix it, as will swapping in a blank eeprom.

Just curious, is your set a 55" set, with all the feature labels still attached to the front? A neighbor just tossed one about a month or so ago.....he had swapped the power supply board, but didn't want to go any further. Too embarrassed to have me take a look at it, so he let it go...

Yes, 55". I read about the EPROM fix, but wasn't sure if this was it or not. Troubleshooting on these usually amounts to board swapping till it works, I think I just got lucky that the main board did it.
