FS: Zenith Color Console - Pittsburgh Area

I am going to go ahead and sell my Zenith Color Console I picked up the other day. It works but will probably need some work to make it a daily driver. I hooked up my Atari 2600 to it and played for a few minutes.

Its a 20x1c38 chassis and its a pretty big console. It measures 41" tall, 20" deep and 32" tall.

I am looking for $65 or best offer. Pick up in the Pittsburgh area or I can ship it if you really want to go that route. Not sure if anyone would but I am open to that option.

damn, that was fast. What made you change your mind about keeping it? Looks like it is well worth the effort for an electronic restoration.

I have no room for it. It would have to go into the attic and its too big and heavy to do that. I would love to keep it just to play the Atari on but in the pic above, it is sitting in the middle of our spare bedroom next to the bed and the door won't close.

Haha, yeah the color is way off on this one. All the controls have been messed with by the previous owner. I only turned it on for a few minutes to take the picture. If you look below the screen, there is a long skinny door that folds down and reveals all of the control knobs. It is very easy to correct, I just never messed with it.

I see.

I'm suprised you played games on it like that.

Wrong colors get under my skin on my sets, so if one warms up with the wrong colors I will tweak every control if necessary over the course of several minutes some times untill I'm convinced I can't make it better.

Prehaps I just have optimal control adjustment OCD.

She made the trip fine . Great meeting you too!

I spent about an hour adjusting the picture up, and the colors all came back in, except for one thing......

I noticed that the red convergence on the right side was way out, and then I noticed a coil of wire that extended down to the chassis that didn't look like it should have been there. Somehow the red convergence coil for the right side came out of the holder and spaghetti'd its way down to the chassis. I powered the set down and moved the coil and wire to a safe place on the inside. Went to adjust out the right side convergence for the blue drive (which was out too), and noticed that the slug was barely holding in there.

Looked like someone didn't have a proper size allen wrench, and tried to jam a Phillips screwdriver in the fragile pots. She'll need a convergence board. All in all, I'm really happy with the set, and ran it for close to 5 hours yesterday to let everything "burn in" and normalize.

Here's a lousy early morning shot of where it sits in the living room, where the roundie sat. The roundie is in the finished basement now waiting for me to finish her

Those convergence coils seem to get brittle from heat and they fall apart.
P.S. In your last picture, I see two cats. I think it's an unwritten law that all vintage electronics collectors have to have one or more cats. I have three black cats.
