21AXP22 in Council Bluffs IA

I spotted this on ebay and snapped it up, thinking to use it in my CTC-5.
Item # 110765029414. All 3 guns read average of 75 to 80% emission with a 15 to 18 cutoff check test on a Beltron, according to seller.
Seller informs me he has the chassis and a beat-up cabinet that he intends to sell also. (Don't have pix or chassis number yet, but it seems earlier than a CTC-5).

I asked if he would sell chassis and cabinet before listing them, have not received a reply.

Seller planned to ship tube Greyhound or local pickup.

Now that I know a chassis and cabinet is available, (plus, the cabinet won't fit in my vehicle) I'd be happy to sell the tube through for the same price I paid ($225) to someone who wants everything. Of course, you have to pick up or pay shipping. (Or maybe you only want the tube for your early chassis?)

Any interest?

Yes, I want to buy this CRT. Please let me know how to set up the arrangements with you and the seller. Thank you for finding and posting it.

Well, to let everyone know, the seller has got cold feet about being able to ship the tube, so it's back to plan A - I will be driving out to get it. Hoping the weather doesn't turn bad before I can. Plus, I have bought the non-working chassis and the cabinet. (Not known yet, but guessing a CTC-4). Now I just have to figure out where to put it, since I have filled the LR with Zeniths waiting for attention.

Glad to hear you are going to get the 21AXP22... you have been searching for one a long time! :-)

Now I have to go review if there is some arc protection mod required to use it in place of the 21AXP22A. Does the non-A require a series resistor in the HV lead or something?

Yes it does. The CTC-4 schematic shows three series 22K resistors in the HV lead (post regulator).

Thanks John. I just realized that it probably has them with it.

I hope that works out well for you. Now, I will need to keep my eyes open for a 21AXP22A here on the West Coast. The same resistor issue would have come up for me, since I need the CRT for my one-of-a-kind Muntz 721CV that has a CTC-5 chassis.

I don't blame the seller one bit for being reluctant to ship that tube... PITA to have to drive & get it, but prolly worth it in the long run.. He MAY have some OTHER "Good Junque" that he wants rid of...

Looks lke CTC-4 hardware on the CRT, judging by the photos.
