Wanted: Admiral 1948-49 Bakelite Console

Hello all - I've been in search for one of these in my local area for quite some time (Tennessee). I realize older sets like this are more likely to be found up north so I'm resolved to driving a good distance to get one. I'd hate to try to have one shipped since it's one solid piece of bakelite. I've watched them come and go on eBay but always too far away!

If anyone has one in nice condition - working or not - and you want to sell it I'd love to have it. I have a few old sets now but always favored this one the most.

I have two of them, but I'm a long ways off.....

You actually would have been the closest Kamakiri! I was trying to recruit a buddy of mine to help me drive to Michigan to get one. My wife was doing her best to talk me out of it. I really didn't see one popping up here but I did catch a break.

As I said, I've looked and been patient for this set to come to me but three years later it just hadn't. Bandersen sent me a PM saying there was one in Chicago. The only city I have close relatives in IS Chicago... couldn't have gotten luckier! I called the antique store it was at and paid for it this afternoon. My Dad is picking it up for me tomorrow and I should have it in mid-October sometime.

These boards are great and to have Bandersen restoring his and documenting it so well in another thread is a real blessing. Maybe my little ones will have fun watching the Lone Ranger on it soon!

Glad to help. I almost picked it up myself but figured I've already got mine - no reason to horde them
