LG 42LK450 no video

Turns on, all front controls work, sound works, video inputs seem to work as I've tried two different inputs and sound works. Backlight is on. No video. Is this a t con issue?

Can be, or bad screen. If there are two ribbon cables from the screen to the T-con, disconnect them one at a time and see if you get half a picture with only one connected at a time

Bad screen. There are threads about people actually isolating which connection on the bad side ribbon cable is causing the problem, but I've never tried to do it.

Both sides of the screen no video? I would look at the TCon board first. Something common to both sides.

There is a "tape" method to isolate the X driver from the bad side (strangely, the display will still run with the other side driving).

There must be youtube videos about adding a small bit of tape under the ribbon cable.

The other way is to remove the front mask to expose the side ribbon tabs on the bad side. With a *new* XActo blade, cleanly cut off all the ribbon tabs on the bad side. Careful not to pull the tab while cutting - it's got to be clean.

The tape method is safer and reversible, the cut method is 100% but not reversible if the ribbon is pulled on the display.

My 70" Sharp is running with one side after I cut off the other side tabs.

John
