Greetings from northern europe!
Hello my name is Benas but you can call me Ben, i'm 21 years old and i live in Lithuania. I've been interested in vintage electronics since i was 4 years old. I used to go outside for treasure hunt for old electronics, i still do that but only sometimes because people don't throw out much anymore since the new free "take out the trash". Now i mostly buy my stuff, generally tube radios because that's what i usually find, i really want to have more tube tvs but i'm starting to lack space. Anyway i really want to have one of those 50s portables but first i must fix these two.The big one 1961-1964 russian made "Концерт" and the small one 1968 transistor "Universum FK-100R" unfortunately i cannot find schematic for this one anywhere, it also uses japanese parts. Anyway the big one is almost working but i think it has bad vertical blocking transformer and Flyback, but i think i can fix that. And for the small one haven't powered it yet because i'm afraid of frying those transistors. Also i'm building my own vacuum tube "monitor", but more on that later...

Welcome. I prefer valve radios from the '30's to the '60's.

Welcome.
That universum radio looks like an American market Japanese made set. Did your country use the American or Russian FM band when that was new?

We where occupied by soviet union so we used Russian FM band. Anyway That universum radio tv thing is actually form west Germany, i found it at estate sale. however there is only two things German made in it, power transformer and one filter cap and maybe selenium rectifier? Also i almost got it working well at least the tv part anyway i just need to fix vertical. I will try to upload photos for you guys.

Welcome! I enjoy seeing radios/TV's from all around the world. My mother is from Latvia; under the Christmas tree there is, I believe, a transistor radio built in Riga. I have to wait until December 25 to know for sure!

Here are more photos.
universum_03.jpg universum_02.jpg universum_04.jpg universum_05.jpg universum_06.jpg I just can't figure out whats wrong with vertical, it's super twitchy and unstable, also there is these two weird black transistors in vertical section which get really hot. You can kind of see them on the board there, they are labeled CDC 9000 1C and CDC 6000 1C. There is no data on the web about them, maybe some of you have experience with them? |
