Yes, the tubes lit up real pretty. But I didnt want to push it anymore than that. I believe this set has been sitting for a long time. I cant wait to get to it more. I will keep all posted as to its progress, real happy that I got it.

Does yours have a Nuvistor on the VHF tuner like mine does?

Yea, those breakers can get flakey, not uncommon to be bad. What a great score you came across though!
And you don't have to have a clone to have a clone chassis! I've also seen those used with 25" versions with pincushion circuitry added. |

Grimer, I have that one-my best performing roundie. Mine was a garbage find in the early 90s.

GRIMER,
This was our first color set when I was growing up. We had the antique white version. I never knew what happed to ours. Most likely it was junked. My step-father moved to another state. I already had a 1963 RCA home entertainment center "The Abbeville" that was moving with me. I've had the unit for 42 year now. Here the information on your set: "The Cherbourg" 14-G-90-M Here is a mastercrafted all-wood lowboy that will lend a gracious air to homes where French Provincial design is appreciated. Distinctive antiqued ribbon wire grill adds an authentic touch to this 18th century reproduction. Has all top New Vista Mark 9 Color TV features including two extended range Duo-Cone speakers and glare-proof RCA High Fidelity Color Tube. In Antiqued Parchment White-finish or Antiqued genuine Fruitwood Cherry veneers and solids. H-30 3/4"; W-46 1/2'; D-27 1/8'. |

Check around the VHF tuner for a tiny metal tube, Mine uses a xDS6 nuvistor. (I forget if it's a 4 or 6 volt tube). I'm not sure if I'm right, but this is probably where RCA had gotten the name "New Vista Color"
