They didn't... Two prototypes in '53-'54 (43M20 & 45M30), and no production set 'til '62-'63 (29JC20Q). But the space command 400 has been around since the late 50s in B&W sets.

I was kidding. I think it's funny what people but in their ads. I know the remote is from the 60's maybe early 70's.
