should i buy this beta player?

Its a Sanyo Beta Hi-Fi stereo VCR model 7200, from 1984. It has a problem where it doesnt usually want to accept the tapes, but when it does, it plays fine.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/ele/2299560857.html

Supposedly i can still buy new belts for this, the betamax collector site says that will solve the tape loading problem.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If I lived near by and did not already have a beta HIFI I'd go for it.

Oh well.. he hasnt responded after two days of calling so.. either his phone is out or.. *shrugs*

Im just looking for a decent quality one, any make. Since my uncle borrowed my sony to watch home videos on and then when it decided to eat some of his tapes..he tossed it, without telling me..though he did give me 40 when i yelled at him for it. But like him, ive home movies i like to watch every few years. Though when i find a new one, ill transfer them to vhs.

That's funny. By 1984 even my grandparents had a VCR (which my parents bought them). Anyway, I'd like to find one of the original Betamax players from mid-1975. I saw one from around 1978 I believe at the flea market, but the owner wasn't that descriptive about the condition of it so I didn't bother buying it. Instead, I just bought an 8-Track/Record Player.
