Those sets are gourgeous.
The "bad" teacher from The Politehnical Univertsity don't want to sell me a Jappanesee roundie (21" RCA picture tube). |

Telecolor, keep your eye on that Japanese set! Don't let it ever get trashed!
Philco was one of the last makers of roundies, but it looks like Magnavox has the honors of the very last, in 1970.

Well, he dosen't intents to throu them, he wants to put the sets in the "Politehnical" Museum; the big difference betwen he and me is taht he dosen't wants to repair the sets, because is "too hard"-I'll do enething to see those sets working again, or, unless one of it.

I went to charlies thread today. Nice motorola set . I have never seen one like that. wow. Any hoo I took a look at his philco. The way he described the tuning eye was, The kind in dyanco tuner. Hot dam i know i have old fm tuners. Now I am down in the cellar tearing it apart and late for work. Yup found one in leak fm tuner. looks from the late 50s. I got it when i was in fla 10 years ago. water damage. Again this philco is so cool. {Thanks TIM and Charlie to.} I will find a door for it. make one if i have to. Put in a picture of the sams too.

I really do like this set-Philco may not have had much life left in it but they did okay. Those type of tuning indicators are pretty cool; I'm not even sure what I ever saw (in person) that used them. I did have an FM tuner years back with an "exclamation point" tube. Philco-Ford was big on green dials, starting maybe a little after this one was made and continuing into the 70s. Some friends of ours had a solid state Philco-Ford console that was probably their first all transistor color line. It had the same green dials as the great late 60s P-F console I had.
