This facinizes me, I spent the last 15 minutes reviewing a bunch of Zenith sams and it seems to hold true about 20% of the time.

Yessir, a very nice catch! Sharp looking and as others have said, this will last forever. In '71 you couldn't have bought a better set than Zenith.

we had a model exactly like tha one pictured. it lasted for decades. and yes the 3 control knobs were nickel colored, they were made of a heavy cast metal. as for the tuner knobs the vhf should be a 2 piece, the back part was silver with orange mumbers and a plated outer knurl. the outer knob was clear with a cast metal wing to turn it.. as for the uhf knob it was a one piece similar to the vhf except it uas all plastic with a plated center knob. i seem to remember ours loved to eat color burst crystals....
