Ditto on that.Happy birthday to the best formal all around. It never gets corrupt and wont playback ,It still receivable in the fringe area,Digital counterpart cuts off and goes blank not far from the transmitter. And the media never goes bad and flake off like their sliver counterparts.Analog recorders like VCR,reel to reel,cassette,8 track does not care if a power cut or power glitch in a middle of recording and you still have what you recorded before the power glitch .The digital counterparts end up corrupt and non playable.

I respect your preferences and don't disparage that, but you need to make a distinction between physical storage media and the format of the content that is stored on it. Tape (of any kind) certainly deteriorates with age, so you can't hold that up. ANY type of physical media has different ways of failing/degrading over time, as well as rates at which that will happen. What does hold up is how tolerant digital vs. analog system are of what ultimately boils down to loss of signal. Even with digital technologies, different ones will fail more gracefully than others when there is a loss or distortion of the bits. Again, I say all this respectfully, but wanted to call out the facts of the matter here. |
