It's the Chinese provincial model to boot! I wish I had one like that! I love the black lacquer finish on those.

I guess its going to be me

I thought someone might jump on it here. Its such a neat set. Im going to go after it. The seller was negotiable on the price and I'll see if someone on uship can bring it over here for a reasonable fee considering the rediculous gas prices. I had this similar model before but its gone now. I sold it to a friend and he sold it to someone else or whatever and I'll never see it again. I like this particular one better anyway so its a good deal. I like these zeniths with the seperate round UHF dial.

Actually, though I have never seen a roundie in operation (!), I believe
the vertical sweep does not cover the whole height of the screen, and the
top and bottom of the tube face are masked. Any comments?

Thanks. I think I'll need all the luck I can get on this one. THe guy is supposed to deliver the TV to me tomorrow evening. Its in the back of an open pick up and we are supposed to have serve T-storms tomorrow and rainy. I can only hope the guy has this set protected really well. He said he was going to use tarps blankets etc. Lets hope it all works out!

Perfect!

All went very well. I got the TV this evening. Took a little extra effort to get it as the guys trailer blew a tire out a 7:45PM and was only 10 miles from the house. Go figure, he didnt have a spare for the trailer! Had to call up NTB and run like a maniac to go out and help the guy with the tire and get it over to the tire place. They closed at 8 put they were nice enough to stay open for an extra 45 minutes for me. Went in there and they didnt have the tire size in stock! Had to put on some old used tire that was smaller. Atleast it got him back on the road. All I can say is that uship is the way to go. I advertized for the TV to be picked up from maryland to chicago and its here the next day! The convenience is unbelievable. Just a couple years ago it was a joke trying to find someone who could take something like a TV, then it had to be crated etc. etc. and cost big money and you had to wait 2 weeks on top of it.

The TV was in back of the truck as expected. Padded and tarped really well. The big storms came though and the TV is nice and dry down to the legs. The guy helped me bring it into the house too which was nice of him.

I must say, this TV is mint. Better than expected. Not only does it work with a bright picture, but its the ORIGINAL TUBE and the color is excellent! Didnt even need to touch a thing. I pulled the back off and every single tube is the original zenith tube, even the horizontal output! All wires still neatly factory wrapped and tied. The set looks like it was never serviced, the back cover has no wear around the twist tabs and all the dial lamps work. There is a TV Tag from "Ball Television Sales" on the back and written in pencil "New on 12-10-63". Big christmas present that year. I got the set from the grandson of the orignal owner.

I'll have some photos shortly. I was confused as to what the deal was with the two windows. I knew one was for VHF tuning, and it has the additional UHF tuner below, so I didnt know what to expect with the other window. Well, its pretty neat is a volume level indicator with three pilot bulbs for the volume stepper! The letters L, M, H, appear from left to right as you increase the volume with the remote.

It has the 25LC20Q chassis. By model being a L series chassis it should be a '64, but was made mid year of 1963. I have the '64 zenith brochure and doesnt list this set, so it might very well be a '63 model. This must be a very very rare set. Its a model 6075U, no listing of this model anywhere in my service manuals, not even in sams. I have a zenith factory published master TV model guide for all models made through 1967, its not even listed in there. I did have the other newer model, with the same cabinet but completely different control panel, the 6175U which is listed in the manuals. Somehow this model completely slipped through. The 6175 that I used to have is a '64 and had the 25LC30 chassis. Perhaps the 6175 took its place and so few of the 6075's were made that they got ignored in the service books. This particular chassis I like much better as it has the 3.58mhz crystal in the vacuum tube which I always liked and the huge power transformer. Its basically like a 29JC20 without the 3DG4's. Its a tube type UHF tuner too!

The CRT needs to be delaminated. I hate to take it all apart though as its totally untouched on the inside from what I can tell. Will post some photos tomorrow

Bravo Doug! I'm happy for you, I'm glad everything worked out and that it's so nice. That set uses the same chassis as my avatar, mine is a 25LC20QS. I think mine was made mid year in '63 as well due to the fact it does not have UHF. Yours is much fancier than mine, well done!! I want to come see it!
