DTV box question

I got my DTV coupons the other day, and tried to buy a converter this weekend for my old Sony TV950. However, I cannot find anyone selling the models that will pass through LP TV analog signals. I work for a company that owns several LP's, so I want to be able to watch them, too, and check on things. I don't have the model #'s in front of me, but there's one Magnavox, 2 Philcos and one other that do this. Best Buy, Circuit City, Radio Shack, K-Mart and Wal-Mart only have 1-2 models each (and none of those will pass analog). What to do! I even tried the vendor links on the FCC page.

I have the same problem, I don't think they make one with a pass through

There are internet vendors who supply the Philco box and accept the coupon. Google Philco TV or Philco DTV.

The Philco passes thru. I bought mine online here: http://www.solidsignal.com/dtv2009/how_to_purchase.asp

I've never seen it in a store. Wal-Mart carries a Magnavox unit, but Magnavox makes two physically identical models, one passes thru, the other doesn't. The info sheet that comes with your coupons should tell you which one is which. The pass-thru models are marked with an asterisk on that sheet. Wal-Mart may not carry the right one. I was fooled.

Amazon.com has a Magnavox: http://www.amazon.com/Magnavox-DTV-D.../dp/B0013ZKZGU. Model TB100MW9. Check it against your info sheet.

Amazon also has the Philco, as I write, it's currently out-of-stock. The list of models here: http://www.amazon.com/tag/coupon%20e...pp_cust_itdp_t. Unclear whether Amazon.com accepts gov't coupons or not.

Of course, buying them online means paying shipping charges. But you can get a Philco that way for sure.

Magnavox TB100MG9 passes thru -- TB100MW9 does not.

Someone on another forum posted that the new Zenith box, 901??, had the audio resolved and had rf passthrough. "ALERT: Recently announced Zenith DTT901 and Insignia
NS-DXA1-APT models add 'pass-through' of analog signals"
I can't verify that with any press release by Zenith or LG and don't know when they will be on the shelf. I have 2 of the DTT 900's and am pleased with them.

You could also check Sears & if in your area HEB grocery stores.

Someone said something about ordering a DTV tuner earlier this year. I said there's no need to order one- before it's over the grocery stores may be selling them.
HEB grocery stores are now selling them.

For the few needing APT who can wait ... the Zenith DTT901 & it would go good w/ my Zenith Chromacolor II w/ Space Command.

I have two DTT900's myself and I'm pleased with them. Low sound output in stereo mode, but switching to mono solved that, anyhoo, except for the 19 incher I bought for my bedroom (a Zenith, but now sitting on top of the 1982 Zenith, our main TV, in case the "old girl" shows her age plus we switch to it to watch some Pittsburgh Penguin games, the 1982 model cannot tune that high on cable), all my sets are mono anyways. My aunt doesn't need her extra card so she plans to give it to us, If she does, I might wait for the DTT901 with the RF bypass so we can watch OTA TV on the 82 Zenith. A side note, I hate having my 1998 19 incher pirated away but at least I have a 13 inch Commodore 1702 monitor which I hook a DTT900 into it.

Sorry to be OT, but I remember when I visited my aunt in Austin, she always shopped at HEB, Henry E. Butts. I was always interesting in the variety of supermarkets when I travel.

I just use push pull connectors and have the box with an antenna attached and the analog antenna, its a quick switch to plug in the tv if I want to watch one or the other, I got rca converters at walmart and they do allow some of the uhf but no vhf pass through.
