Early Color Remote, Prelinger Archives

If anyone doesn't already know about the Archives there is a short film about RCA Color TV with remote control.

you can download if you have broadband or watch it online with just a Modem connection.

Here's a direct link to this particular film:

They have several RCA promo films but most of the others are missing the soundtrack

Thanks, Eric. That is a neat little film.

I like your website. You need a bunch more color sets though!

Terry,
I believe the set pictured in the RCA film is the "Worthington" CTC-7 remote model 21RC899. This set not only had remote control but also had electronic tuning on the cabinet itself. This ultra deluxe color set sold for $1200.00 in 1958. It is pictured on Ed Reitan's CTC-7 model listings.

A shocking amount of money back then, Steve.

I think my Dad made $100.00 a week back then. Imagine trying to buy one of these babies?

And just think, one wouldn't even be done paying for it on the installment plan before the circuit boards dried up and snapped inside there. Heh.
