Early 70's Sharp FV-18U

I picked this up at the same house as the Zenith hybrid. It was on top of a Sony Wega in the back den. Only AM & FM showed life but I took it anyway.

It has three or four circuit boards mounted on a metal frame that bolts to the cabinet. Very sturdy design.

Tonight I cleaned the band switches up top and the set actually works very well! FM selectivity is typical of old portables, but that's expected. So I spent another hour cleaning almost forty years of nicotine off of the case & knobs and it doesn't look that bad now

Speaking of the nicotine, I was surprised more wasn't on the Zenith hybrid. I guess they didn't spend as much time in the front room. There was a 13" B&W Zenith with the angular slanted-front cabinet (c.1980?) in the office that I left there simply because it would have taken three hours to clean the darn cabinet!
