I had my Philco 1936 166-122 chassis chauffeured to the local vintage repair shop for repair. I anticipate a wait of at least three months and $400. Now I'm waiting for knobs, bezel and tombstone cabinet. My 37-665B is back and running as my main radio.

Anyone in my area have experience and the signal generator required to tune up a 16b?
I got it running and eventually will need to get it tuned once i get the bugs worked out.. SR Last edited by Boobtubeman; 02-03-2019 at 12:47 AM. |

BTW The Philco 116-122 still sits lonely at the repair shop. Should be done in three weeks (don't count on it). I picked up a 116B cabinet on eBay but it needs refinished. I still use the 37-665B which is still working good. I wonder if/when my sick Zenith 11S474 will be repaired?

Anyone know of a RF signal generator with a digital display suitable for tuning my radio?

Been a long trip, but its a runner
The restuffing went pretty well, as you can see, she lost a few pounds along the way... Got lucky with the shadowmeter, looks like it was replaced once and this one is in great shape... Took a crash course in tuning it up, but there is a definite improvement... Have a friend whose gonna do the cabinet Other than a few tweaks, im calling it done.. Funny story about this particular radio, i had a feeling ide seen it before. Turns out i encountered it years before the yard sale.. It was a decoration in a diner me and my gal would frequent for breakfast. Ide eyeball this radio as i ate my omelette and thought "ide like to get that running"... I recently ran across an old pic from the diners page (long since closed) and sure enough, theres a pic of it, and the details match perfectly.. And after the diner closed, i just happen to be where they happen to be selling off pieces of the old diner.. And now its alive... Funny how fate works.. SR |

Like Bing Crosby's horse, my Philco 116-122 still resides in the shop. When, Oh when, will I see my radio? Maybe we need a contest?

I just recently found the 1936 Tombstone version of this radio and mine unfortunately is going to need a LOT of work. because as it sits currently it has a bad power switch, and a dead shadow meter, and some other issues.

So that all know: my radio has spent two months with my friend being properly repaired. The first technician didn't do a complete repair. Nothing worse than spending $500 for a barely working radio! I'd like to see it repaired and returned before Christmas. With my luck...
