Sony Beta SL-S600 Capstan problems

went to watch some old movies lately and the betamax deck won't work anymore Its always been good to me as long as I've had it. It will thread the tape through it fine, the head motor works. But the capstan motor will not run, no play, rewind,FF. I've noticed I can make it work if i press the SLOW button but I haven't tried that with it hooked up to a set to test that.

I've heard about bad caps on these, mine only seems to have one, which does not look bad to me, but I am no expert here.

included is a picture, linked as it is pretty big, any help would be apprechiated!

Wouldn't be surprised if the problem is that old surface mounted electrolytic capacitor on tha capstan board. Appears to be a 47 uF at 16V. See pic I have circled the only one on that board. Best as I can tell it looks like it has leaked. Might have even eaten through a circuit trace. Seen it happen before.

Well I suppose it can't hurt to replace it, especially if they are known to go bad anyhow.

I'm a relative newbie when it comes to this style of cap on top of it it says
13
47
16v

16volts, but what do the other 2 numbers mean?

13 or may be L3 with a small case L, could be a mfg date code. Not a standard value like 47 uFd is.

Update: I ordered a dozen surface mount caps just like the original one, Unsoldered, cleaned the leaked crap up off the capstan board, then soldered down a new one. Powered it up and it works just like new again.

If anyone needs a spare cap for their deck PM me I have 11 spares now!

Also, any other housecleaning I should do on this deck to ensure it keeps functioning as it should?
