Same model as mine... I'm not selling at this time, but I'm curious to see what this one brings. It's one of the smallest and easiest-to-handle roundie consoles, which is one reason I picked it to keep. Mine is repaired (not re-capped), and is working fine with a NOS military CRT.

That's a Zenith alright. I'll have to post a picture of mine in operation now.

Thanks for the compliments!!
That set has a military surplus CRT; I think it's an HR21GVRP22. HR-something anyway. It isn't any brighter than the regular ones, but it was easier to get convergence and purity. I think they still use those in some airport control tower radar scopes. They're still on the current US Navy inventory sheet, according to one of our members here who is an active Navy tech. The contrast is probably better because I put the original tinted glass from the Zenith 21FBP22 over the existing bonded glass on the tube. That photo is taken while I had it on for the '07 Rose Parade on New Years. Charles

Would that be a black-matrix tube? Where do I find the order sheet for airport surplus?

Man, those people that think an old Color TV can't produce a good picture need to see that Zenith in operation. That color picture looks just as good, if not better, than a modern set.

Is that tube still being made somewhere for the military? If so, it would be nice to find out how to get them.

The tint was/is almost always neutral gray. There were a few exceptions -IIRC, GE had blue-face tubes for a while. |

Is the military still having JAN tubes produced? Not just CRT's, but other tubes?
