RCA roundie on ebay in CA

A cheaper metal cabinet set. The "Frazer" CTC-11. I think these are the rarest types these days. Looks like a nice set, has most of the original screws on the back cover! That might mean that the set was not taken apart a million times.

I like the metal cabinet sets the best. They just seem to fit in with anything.

I can drive there... I think I will bid on it. Later, I can find room for it!

Thanks for the link, Doug.

PHOOEY!!!!!!!!!!!! I was just near there YESTERDAY!!!!!

Oh well, I didn't have room for it anyway. Nice set, and I agree it's an 11. Very last year for the upright chassis, and first one with a 21FJP22.

This looks like it had an RCA service contract on it...how long was the RCA service company around? By the operating condition, it looks like it probably had fairly consistent maintenance done on it.

This set is ending in a few hours, and still $1.25!!! Heck, isn't anyone going to go for it? Don't make me bid $5 and have to drive up there!!!!

At least through the late 80s. I used to have a lot of customers who had me service TVs for them, but they would have an RCA roundie that still had RCA contract service that I couldn't touch. I guess that they never kicked anybody off, no matter how old the set was as long as they paid the premiums. The San Fernando Valley, CA RCA Service Techs would all meet at a local coffee shop in Chatsworth each Friday. The parking would have 20 or more RCA trucks!

Mine is the high bid, at $1.25 as you said, but it has three hours to go. No, $5 would not win the auction.

The thing is that the cheapie metal sets like that RCA are far more rare than the nice wood consoles. When the cheapies crapped out 30 years ago, they all got thrown away whereas the nice consoles tended to get kept as furniture. So now, the collectors want the rare sets and pay more.

Think about this: When was the last time you saw a plastic Wards Airline color portable from the 80s? But eBay and Craigslist are flooded with big Zenith consoles from that time.
