Its BETTER over Here...

I REALLY don't care about some poor schlub w/a Sakasui BR-549 L speaker output being DEAD.. Or that I "Scroed" a Whosiwhatsis G-33K...I'd rather see what all us TV/Radio Nutz have scored...

It's a much more relaxed pace.....no new member profiteering, no flame wars, blah blah blah. It's the way things were meant to be

Oh, don't get me wrong, I LOVE AK & always will. Its just that its gotten SO big, it lacks the intimacy that it had back in 203 when I started. And SOME of the people aren't the nicer set of people we had years ago. We all kinda knew each other, & for the most part, KNEW HOW TO ACT, whereas now, 3/4 of the troubles we have are guys being total JERKS. As we say in the South, "That Ol' Boy don't appear to have good Home Trainin'..."

I can get pretty abrasive on the net at times, but I'm very opinionated. I was raised that way. If it's any consolation, I hate you all equally. In a brotherly sorta way.

Well SandyG can now rest peacefully when he is no longer with us years down the road knowing that the "hate" here will continue.

All in all, I'd say there are a lot more diplomats than dips around here

Sandy-on a different note. I saw your post from a few years back. You were quite please with the acquisition of a WWV receiver by Specific Products. You were curious about the company. Still have questions? My father stared the company. I could fill you in on a few things.

For sure. I'm a TV guy who just happens to have a good stereo that I got on the cheap, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered with it. Still, most on AK would consider it junk because of its lack of tubes. Also, it's paired to cheapo speakers but I couldn't care less as long as they're older models of the proper impedance and are made outside of china. Now I'm on the lookout for a good CRT that would be a bolt-in swap for the dud in a TV that could be quite rare in the coming years as it's not the cream of the crop.

AK isn't as interesting as VK by a long shot.

What kills AK for me is the following type of post:

"I have/bought this item, which has some problems which I don't fully understand.... please tell me how to make it work in three lines or less, using a volt meter and a screwdriver or I will write it off, keeping in mind not to get too technical. I don't mind to waste hours of people's time, but god forbid I spend $50 on parts, or bother to read a book"

What I like about AK are the long threads where someone's project has some real value... like the one about Realistic Mach One speakers.

I remember the Realistic Mach 1 Speakers..... WOW I would love to have a set of those...

But now my MC-500's or my Infinity sc2000 Both bookshelfers get me in plenty
of hot water...... The 15" W-H-O-O-F-F-E-R-S in those Mach 1's would just boil my ass good.....

I sold a set of them this spring which I had refurbished. The Mach one is awesome but I prefer the pair of Nova 7b I have... Needed to clear some space and they had to
Go.
