Radios I'm restoring at the moment ...
I'm currently working on a Scott model SLRM communications receiver for a customer. This is a 12-tube AC/DC receiver with 3 bands and dates from the WWII era. The capacitors in this set are Military grade "bathtub" caps with greater than 100 megohms shunt resistance and all of them within tolerance. No recapping needed. Tube complement is:
6K7 -- RF Amp 12SA7 -- Conv 12J5 ---- HF Osc 12SK7 -- 1st IF 12SK7 -- 2nd IF 12H6 ---- Det 1629 ---- Tuning Eye 12SN7 -- CW Osc 12SN7 -- AF Amp/Inverter 25L6 ---- PP AF Amp 25L6 ---- PP AF Amp 25Z6 ---- B+ Rect This set was in great shape and needed very little work to bring it back to life. The next set is a Silvertone 2-band with pushbutton tuning, also from the 40's. Tubes are 6SK7, 6SA7. 6SK7, 6SQ7, 6K6, 6X5. This one plays nicely, but needs some maintenance. The finish is in good shape, but the top coats are rough and making it look bad, so I'm going to have it lightly sanded and re-laquered. I'm also working on a 1930's Silvertone 3-band Superhet with a mix of old-style 4- 5- 6- and 7-pin tubes and one or two octal tubes, which dates it somewhere around 1936-37. This one will need recapped, new antenna transformer, refinished and will need some knobs. Last edited by jshorva65; 04-28-2003 at 12:04 AM. |
