= A Bill to keep it legal to repair your shit =

I thought you guys would have some fun with this one....
I was up reading crap on the internet, and something I usually don't
care about came across the google news....

First tear down of the iphone 8. So what the heck, I clicked on it.

https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/iPhone+8+Teardown/97481

It first loaded the thing I attached. A bill in NY Only? so you can get repair
info for all kinds of crap that companies supposedly are tring to keep people
from getting.....? Idonknow I didn't read it.... Anyone know about it?

By the way, the constant reloading of ads makes the computer freeze every
few seconds. Letters and words disappear as I type.... Time for an ad blocker
for this site? Even the NY Times or AOL ain't that bad....

later...

They did something like this with cars. There's laws on the books that manufacturers must provide software for flashing computers.

Chrysler got away with one thing though, they fought in court and won, they don't have to give you stuff for ABS, because it's "safety related."

Good luck with it.As my friend told me years ago about when they started licensing people to repair electronics was because to save their jobs from fly by night shops taking them .I thought it was more for safety issues if a TV set burns down a customers house.
