Your pictures do not show up. Try naming them XXX.bmp. Use the preview post to check that they are included. I am sure we would like to see the photos.

I see the pics and it looks GREAT! The only issue I see is what looks like a missing cover on the HV cage. My only problem is that I'm in the Seattle area.

It also appears to have the wrong yoke too guys.
Beware of this one. It appears to have been molested pretty badly. |

I acquired this Chandler back in July in the Los Angeles area. Just this past weekend had a chance to take a couple of shots although the pictures the seller originally took are pretty good. The cabinet is kind of rough. The pictures make this set look better than it is. The finish is walnut and there is no sheen to the wood. A lot of spotting like water splattered on the cabinet in the past. Also lots of veneer chips missing. This is the grimiest set I have ever encountered! The top has a lot of staining. Looks like it led a pretty rough life or maybe most of this happened when it was taken out of service. Electrically, the CRT is broken. The chassis is also very grimy and this set appears to have a lot of hours behind it.
I had been negotiating with the seller off and on for over a year to acquire this set and I must say it was a bit of a shock to see it in person after only seeing pictures of it. As I say, the pictures make it look a lot better than it presently is although a good cleaning and going over would do wonders for this set. One item of note, this is the first set I have come across which originally used a 21AXP22, but was retrofitted to use a glass CRT. Interesting to see how it was done. The yoke is not original, but was connected via the original octal connector to the chassis. Luckily, I have a spare CTC-5 chassis and yoke so installing an original yoke and HV cover are not a problem. This will wait a long time before I can get to working on it, but at least now it is safe. Gilbert

That is a very handsome set, well worth the efforts it will take to bring it back. Great find!

Great looking TV. I will be restoring a Whitby over the Winter months, and the CRT shroud is damaged. I will try to repair the shroud, and use a 21AX, but it still may arc through.
If the repair doesn't work, I have a pair of brackets from a CTC-9 that I would like to install in the 5 cabinet similar to the photo in sampson159's post. Has anyone done this conversion? Looks to be fairly simple, but we all know to watch out for "fairly simple"! Thanks! Kevin

I couldn't agree with John more. These high end Deluxe CTC-5's are getting more scarce all the time. Looks like you have a complete receiver there and your spare chassis is a plus. Take your time and you'll have a beautiful set. Glad you were able to save it. Regards, -Steve D.

It was on eBay for $500 opening bid around the late spring or early summer... I'm glad you saved it... I also went after that set, but no reply. I assumed that the seller decided to keep it after it didn't meet the $500 opening bid on eBay. I eMailed to say that I couldn't pay that opening bid amount for it, but I'd be happy to discuss with her an offer somewhere in the middle.
