Safety Glass On Sylvania 21fj.

I have a rebuilt Sylvania 21FJP22 but the smoked safety glass had deep scratches so I removed it and replaced it with a 21FBP22 separate glass. Is this a correct thing to do cause it seems like the glass is not as close and I'm loosing detail. If this is so does anyone have an anti glare glass they can sell?
Thank you,
Perry

It is the correct thing to do right now as it acts as the safety glass. As far as the space between the safety glass and CRT, I know for a fact several times over there is enough clearance for dirt to get in between the two. When bonded replacement CRTs became the norm...it was a great day.

I've seen some change in clarity on sets that had nice bonded safety glass after cataract removal....I rather make the trade off of a slightly less clear center for a tube of uniform clarity that doesn't have a cataract.
There were some non-tinted non-smoked non-frosted safety glass out there and hat might be an improvement, but for the most part that improvement is marginal and comes with increased glare in non-darkned viewing areas as a trade off.

What you're doing now is fine.
