8" Arvin on eBay

Why do these always look like they fell off the back of a pick up truck going 70 on the Freeway???

Yeah, it was a Purdy set at one time...that "Woodgrain" is almost impossible to duplicate w/o making it look like @ss, or a 9th grade shop-class project...

You know this isn't the same 8" CRT used in the Motorolas?

It's a metal tube, magnetically deflected.

Was Arvin the only manufacturer to use that 8" metal bell CRT? I know Arvin also made a Hospix branded version of the same set with a different paint scheme.

Looks more like t was draged over a dirt road at 30 MPH.

Droped from a truck at 70 makes me imagine imploded CRT and a all the kings horses and all the kings men chassis and cabinet situation.

Life happens, things get stored at all angles on abrasve surfaces with sharp stuff on top of them. That is what can happen to junk that has not become antique but still holds enough value to it's owner to keep them from tossing it out.

Uh Oh! thanks for the warning. That would mean that if I still went ahead and won this set without knowing if the CRT was good or not I could be in a very difficult situation to replace it if it was bad, right?

Anyone care to venture a guess as to the condition of this set?

looking closely at the cabinet it doesn't look like the actual wood grain part got too scratched up. One could just strip and repaint the rest of the cabinet and it would look pretty good. It would be the CRT and the rest of the chassis that would be the big unknown especially if it's an early metal/glass CRT.
