Hope I find one of this model, someday
This is the first Brazilian TV set, released in 1952. It came in several versions, this is the console version. All the versions of this set are EXTREMELY rare, I know only two collectors who own this TV, and in 16 years collecting televisions I have never seen any version of this set for sale:

Thats a pretty set, just because it is from Brazil.
Brazil is still on my favorits list to get a TV from. In between I hit country number 25. TV-collector

Incomparável, indeed.
Odd that someone introducing a new technology to their country would proudly offer their product in "Thirteenth century Chinese" style! |

Yeah, it is kind of funny actually, when you think about it. That table model in Chinese style I have never seen in person, must be extremely rare, never appeared for sale anywhere, also. What I have seen in person, in the collection of a fellow collector are both the table model seen on the top right of the ad and the "Coromandel" model seen in the bottom of the ad. The "Coromandel" also features a Chinese-style cabinet and is a beautiful thing to see. That set is believed to be sole surviver of the 100 estimated to have been produced. Here are pictures of the "Coromandel" set:

Heck, I am asking myself where this strange chinese style was created?
Who had a chinese styled living room to add a chinese styled TV? Does anybody know a chinese styled chinese TV set? I own close to a dozen vintage japanese TVs/incl. 2 consoles (all 50s), but as their neighbors, O.K., not the best neighborhood , they never build TVs in chinese style! We don`t had something like that in Europe either. I should like to call these cabins more chinese than the chinese are. Just my opinion..... TV-collector

Chinese style cabinets were popular in North America. It's a fashion thing, keep in mind in those days China was exotic and mysterious in the west, and Chinese style unique and intruiging, this was way before we were inundated with Chinese products.

It was a big fad but not everyone liked it.
I love Lucy, Chinese Modern. https://youtu.be/8Vee_7np9X4?list=PL...tKVryM_i&t=340 |

I like it, wouldn't mind a bit to have one. Well, on second thought, maybe not- I can only imagine what would befall it, trying to get from Brazil to NE Tennessee... There would be a lot of "Kindling" wood, busted glass, & a piece of bent sheet metal that once was the chassis..

There is no way out for TVs from Brasil! It is not allowed to Brasilians to sell/ship something which weights more than 2 kgs. Believe me, I tried everything, asked dozends of shippers, forums, german busyness organisations - no chance! You can buy drugs from Brasil but no vintage TVs. I called the Brasilian embassy in Berlin, the a__hole didn`t wanted to give me his name, answered not one of my questions! I wrote an email to the German embassy - no answer. It is a totally criminal, corrupt, lazy government! Argentina is not better! Shippers told me that they stopped dealing with Brasil because of the customs. Anyway it was possible to me to buy 2 vintage TVs out of Buenos Aires! I think they will be for centuries the only argentinian TVs in Europe! Inbetween Russia had closen the border for 50s stuff and older junk. This includes radios and TVs. What a luck they don`t close the border for stolen cars from Europe. I heard this from different sources. TV-collector

"It is a totally criminal, corrupt, lazy government!"
And it will not get any better... unfortunately. The current president is doomed for impeachment, but the gangsters that are poised to take her place will make sure that everything remains as imoral as always. You can consider yourself lucky: your only headache caused by the Brazilian government was not to be able to buy a vintage TV from here. I, on the other hand, have to LIVE here, being subject everyday to all the cruelties perpetrated against the people by the Brazilian politicians. |
