ETF on Travel Channel

As pointed to on their web site yesterday, the ETF appeared as the last museum on their misnamed museum show last night.

Given the awful disconnect usual between the museum and the main :human interest story" this one was not really as bad as normal.

They showed generic views of the museum displays and then the 1945 Farnsworth prototype. You can now guess where they were going if you know the show.

Yep, Farnsworth's patent war with Zworkin and Sarnoff over the Image Dissector. As expected they never mentioned that the Image Dissector was never, and really could never, be used for broadcast TV due to lack of sensitivity. Of course, Farnsworth's original patent had many claims, and was actually issued in 1930. There are several killer claims ... including the rather obvious "straight line scanning".
