Early CTC chassis to Check-a-Color connections

A while ago someone on here was saying they had the connection chart to be able to hook an early CTC (4/7/9, ect) to the Check-a-Color rig, but I never heard from that person. I'd still like to see this information, if it's available. I have 2 large boxes full of connectors/programmers/yoke stuff, so I can hack something if need be.

There was some good information early on in this thread.

Once you figure out the jig wiring, you can pretty much make any adaptors you need. You may be able to pm TV Engineer for the exact pin outs for the CTC 4.

You need the following items:

-For all RCA roundies (CTC-4 to CTC-16X plus CTC-20; not tested on CTC-2B yet but CTC-4 setup should work; CTC-2 tests not done yet):
YP12 yoke programmer (plugs into the front of the jig)
B230 cable (CRT cable, plugs into the jig)
A113 CRT adapter for the B230 cable (Or RCA part 10J113) (Converts the B230's plug into the large 14-pin roundie-style CRT plug)
B207 cable (yoke cable; plugs into the jig)

-Also needed for CTC-7 and newer:
CVL1 convergence load (plugs into convergence jack on the TV chassis; no convergence hookup to the jig)
A112 yoke adapter for the B207 cable (Converts the B207's plug into four male blades that connect to the wires that unplug from the yoke; match colors; yellow/black wire on chassis goes to black wire on A112)

-Also needed for CTC-4 (and should work on CTC-2B):
Homemade adapter with octal plug and octal jack (Converts the B207's plug into the wiring needed for the RCA chassis as listed below; plugs into the yoke jack on the TV chassis)
Note: No convergence load needed for CTC-4 chassis (nor the CTC-2B but you will need to keep the CTC-3 board connected to the CTC-2B)

-Also needed for CTC-5:
Homemade adapter with octal plug and octal jack (Converts the B207's plug into the wiring needed for the RCA chassis as listed below; plugs into the yoke jack on the TV chassis)
Note: No convergence load needed for CTC-5 chassis

Homemade adapter details in my next post.

Homemade adapter details:
-I have a box of lots of extra adapters, so I built this by modifying an RCA 10J216 yoke adapter because it already had the octal plug and jack. The adapter uses an octal plug, octal jack, and 5-inch lengths of 16-gauge 600V-rated wire, ideally.

For the CTC-5, wire the plug pins to the jack pins as follows:

Plug 1 to jack 1
Plug 2 to jack 2
Plug 5 to jack 4
Plug 8 to jack 6

Also wire plug pin 3 to plug pin 7.

For the CTC-4 (and CTC-2B, but I have not tested one), you will also need to add a wire from plug pin 1 to plug pin 6. (Do NOT leave these two pins shorted if you use the same adapter on a CTC-5. Add a switch to open this jumper, or make two separate adapters if you have both chassis types.)

Let me know if you have any questions. I have used my CK3000 on a CTC-4 and CTC-5, and at some point I will be making adapters as needed for a CTC-2 (CT-100).
