hi guys
update. step 1 L 45 (choke) removed from the system and the breaker did not trip. voltage at C1 was 440. sams stated 400. this is anew electrolytic. connected L 45 back. disconnected R212 and was about to trip the breaker. disconnected r213 and r214 and was about to trip the breaker again. so the L45 is grounded. disconnected the L 45 from both points and non of the points close to ground. replaced the 45 and it continues with this issue. the l45 shows about 16.0omh(schematic 16.6) Last edited by bluenorm; 08-23-2018 at 04:04 PM. |

hi guys
partial good news. after disconnecting the white and green wire feeding the T2, and connecting the L45 the circuit did not break. so after connecting all resistors, now all capacitors are up and running. voltage about 10% higher across all the printed circuits. so the predicament is the T2 shot or there is a problem with the vertical board. this issue I hope is getting narrower. |

Looks like you are making good progress.
So the green wire that the vert centering control connects to is shorting to ground?... Interesting. It could be a secondary to frame short in T2, but I'd more expect it to be damaged insulation of the wires especially if the vert yoke leads go through a chassis hole. This is a job for the Ohms mode of your DMM. Leave the green wire disconnected from B+ and measure the green wire's resistance to ground it should be very high like a few thousand ohms or more (but probably won't be if there is a short). Unhook the secondary leads (GRN, GRN-WH, YEL) from the transformer and measure the resistance between those leads and ground. If the resistance of the unhooked leads to ground is low/measurable the transformer is probably bad...If not (transformer is fine so) check the stuff the transformer was hooked to for low resistance paths (under 5K ohm to ground). The idea is to find the short by chasing a low resistance path to its source. You're doing well just a bit more and you will have it completely diagnosed.

hi guys
I would like to thanks very much to elctronicm for all the advice given since 8-18. your help was essential. with out it the set would have been just a dead set. thanks to wa2ise. I will look for the computers. to the administrator, with out this site I will lost. tomorrow a proper set up of the set specially the vertical linearity, and to install the new thermistor. the T2 transformer was the culprit. I love this hobby. |

hi guys
installing the new thermistor as we speak, later installing the chassis back and complete tuner installation. a complete set up including convergence, and gray scale to mention a few. |
