Question General Electric HB Chassis Focus

My portacolor with 11SP22 and the HB chassis doesnt seem to have focusing stakes nor a focus control. Is there anyway to focus this one? The focus isn't particularly bad but I'm sure it could be better.

Seems strange that GE wouldn't include any way to focus a color inline set....

No focusing stakes? Pin 9 of the PortaColor CRT is the focus pin - it should go to a threesome terminal through a 1 Meg resistor - some were soldered. Focus options were (1) ground, (2) B+(~275-290V, typical) and (3) Boost(~650-700V). IIRC, the boost and B+ points are right by the big white Elmenco .1/1KV ceramic gonna-be-a-bomb capacitor near the HO tube. I've only seen them tied to B+, as it always seemed to be enough to fucus the tube. Watch your HV too - it can be off only 1KV or so before focus is affected.

My portacolor is needing some power supply 'lytics right now - I don't have the time to fix it just yet.

Cheers,

Hmm I'll crack it open again tomorrow probably, thanks.

I didn't that the B+ could be applied directly in this set. HV seems good and healthy, but I'll probe it again to be sure.
