1950's? Admiral Color Set
I just picked up this Admiral Roundie out of a storage barn this morning. Anyone have info on it? or know the year? I Found the original manual inside the cabinet and it's dated 5-56 there is a number stamp on the back: C322C2 CSC and the chassis is stamped CT6, run 16 The label inside says 29Z1. The CRT is a 21axp22a.

Wow Jim, rare find!
The ETF says it was sold in 1957, and there are only three others known to exist at this point! http://www.earlytelevision.org/color_database.html |

Jim,
Great find! That's the "Regent" model in Grained Mahogany finish. $499.95. in 1957. The Regent" was also available in Grained Blonde Oak finish. Retailed for $519.95. Admiral offered 5 color models in 6 finishes in the 1956-57 model year. UHF was optional.Your receiver uses a chassis designed by Admiral. -Steve D.

Jim,
Could I get a scan of the manual to post on our site? Based on your information we will probably change the date from 1957 to 1956. Great find. Thanks, Steve |

I'm curious to know if this great Admiral is similar to a CTC-4, or a CTC-5 Special or DeLuxe, or uses some other form of color demod, etc. Super find! Hope the CRT is high emission!!!

Was this in a climate controlled storage barn? Here in Texas(at least the eastern 1/2), the heat and and especially the humidity would have very detrimental effects on something like that was stored for any length of time in a non-climate controlled area.
I picked up a Hoffman from the Houston area that had been in someones house, not a barn, It had mold damage on the finish in some areas. This is a very fortunate save!!!. |
