I'm a new member from Kansas that recently retired. I now have more time for estate sales but might need a bigger house if I keep hauling stuff home.

I mainly like to fiddle with vintage audio gear and I do mean fiddle because I am lacking in electronic knowledge soon after the basics.

I went to a sale last week and found a very good condition Sherwood S5000 amp and S2200 tuner. I also found a single Pilot AA902 mono amp that I couldn't pass up. I have a few other vintage Pilot components.

I was about to leave when I noticed a very clean Magnavox B/W console TV with Imperial MicroMatic turntable and tuner. After finding some help I hauled it home. It is in very good condition. 90% or better.

Now I am trying to figure out just what it is and that brought me to this forum of knowledge.

Using the model 3MP357R doesn't find much. I have found threads that discuss models that have some of this units features but none like it. 9304-10 amp with
6BQ5 tubes. Fairly sure it is early 1960's.

Where should I start a new thread to ask questions about this monster console?

Thanks

Mags and Sherwoods

Welcome Denny

I have two of those Sherwood S2200 tuners, they are great equipment for 1961 with over a dozen tubes, but mine do not have the multiplex adapter sub-chassis. It would be great to see a picture of them and the amp, which I am not familiar with.

as for the Magnavox, there may be a sticker with two-digit chassis number or stamped on the chassis. I know that series U41 or V39 was around that time.
Mags model numbers were not listed in Sams indexes. IIRC the thread is probably rectangular tube TV, rather than early TV which is loaded with sets pre-1955.

Sorry I haven't responded before now. Sometimes life gets in the way of fun!

It's easy to take photo's but I haven't looked into how to post them on this forum yet.

Is it best to upload to a site such as photobucket and link from there? I have done it before so maybe I can figure out how.

I will also look for any other model or chassis numbers on the console.

I did notice that the big woofers which are mounted on the sides also have a tweeter mounted right in front of them and can't be seen until the woofer is removed. The oval's (5"x7"??) must be the mids and they are mounted on the front.

It looks all original except it looks like someone had spliced into the phono to amp so they could maybe use a different turntable?

Hope to get back to this project soon!

Ok that worked so I'll add a few more.

Model 357 ? TV tube is 24AHP4 and 62-35 is possibly the date code on tube?
It does have the photo eye on the front and the Power Tune on TV tuner.

I did figure out the EIA codes on the speakers. All 8 are CTS and dated late 1961 to early 1962.

The radio tuner/pre amp is 7908-10

The amp is 9304-10 and also marked "NIGHT" and stamped M29

Multiplex is 7002-00

Someone wanted to see the Sherwood S-2200 tuner and S-5000 amp (not S-5000II)

I'll add some vintage Pilot gear and a nice Bogen AP60.

Anyone remember the ERIC line?
