yes it has been restored, on new caps or caps that are not bad it works as is should.

I was responding to the issue of what goes wrong with some of the olded dipped caps.

I just went back to using my Sencore and Tel-Ohmike. The battery I had was a freebie - found in some military surplus stuff I got at the local hamfest. It has an eye tube, and works well, but was another piece on an already crowded bench.

Recapping a cap checker, that reminds me of when I borrowed my brother's VOM to repair mine. It had a shorted protection diode across the meter movement.
