Temecula California

I emailed him earlier asking where he's located. All his reply said was "temecula ca" without as much as a thank you. I don't think this guy's a fake, but I do think he's a bag.

I know who owns this set now and where it came from. It's for real, and the current owner is a decent guy that I have dealt with many times. He used to own an Antique store down that way.

Heard from the seller and you were right Steve (Darryl too), he confirmed the previous owner.

Like Charles, I'd like to have it for $650!

He is alive and well, although it has been a few months since I spoke to him in person.

Just wondering, is this possibly the same set as the one on the ETF classifieds? I'm sure some here know.

CT100 Seller's Reply

The seller said the cabinet number is 18. The seller will send the CTC2 chassis number with photos. The set's location is in Temecula, CA 92593.
Also, the seller will be providing additional photos; including both sides, the rear, and the interior.

Regards,
Terry Cheek

The missing bottom cover is just one of the usual CT-100 annoyances, like the cracked UHF-VHF splitter board. I suppose you could make one, and I saved two of them from a CT-100 and a 21CT55 that burned in the '88 fire. I have those someplace still, unless I let someone in need have them in the past.

I probably will drop out of the bidding, and here I say in public, I'm not going to run it into orbit. My CT-100 is nice & complete, but has a failed CRT and water damage to the 'feet' on the cabinet. It's not worth $1000+ to me to have a set that's a little better, but still with a failed tube.

The first ad under Color Televisions. Aired CRT, they have it listed there for $2500.

Just got a reply from the seller ... guess this pretty much tells us the CRT is bad and likely to air.

"Hello, I do not have any history on it. the man that I got it from said the picture tube is dead.

Im curious how the current owner got this TV if the previous owner was a TV collector. You would think a TV collector knowing he has a CT-100 would not have sold it to an antiquer. I would think the previous owner would have sold the set on ebay with a detailed description as he knows what he has. Its odd because there is no reserve on it. Thats good and bad of course. Does anyone know the condition of the chassis? I emailed and asked for a picture of the insides and back cover. Considering the current price of the set, I'd expect some pictures.

Good point Doug. You know an antiquer isn't going to give a whole lot of money for anything he buys. However, he will turn around to charge a whole lot for what he sells. So the previous owner couldn't have gotten much for the set by selling it to this current fella.

If I had to get rid of the set for some reason, I think I'd rather give the set to another fellow collector before selling it to a antique dealer.

It was on the Inland Empire Craigslist when the former owner sold it. I don't know if the buyer came from that ad, or if it was sold to someone here, etc. He's a significant collector, and may have another CT-100, or sold this one for other reasons. Now that I know who it was, I can attest that the former owner is 100% ethical, but I don't know the present owner/seller.
