RCA Color TV Motion Sign!

This is awesome, I wonder what year it is, 1954?

Looks like very late 50s to me. Has nothing to do with the CT-100. I agree, not worth no $800!

Yah, the seller's just guessing. I emailed to ask why he thinks it's associated with the CT-100 and got this reply:

"no date on the sign , but the wording is quiet clear as to how new color tv was and rca was the 1st with the ct100"

If it was an advertising piece for the CT-100 I would say it is worth $800.

It does say the New RCA Victor Color TV, however that could mean the new model, not necessarily the CT-100.

CT-100 advertising is next to nonexistent. It was on the market for a very short time before the successor came along. As far as I know, RCA did not run big glossy ads in national magazines, etc., as they did for later models. The ETF website shows a few newspaper ads from local dealers, but that's about it.

I agree that "new" in this sign likely means "this year's model." When I was a kid working in a grocery store, I think the Oxydol label always had the word "new," year in and year out

Well, it was newly manufactured.

Maybe someone I know who has one will chime in...

My opinion is that this model in decent working condition is rare and worth roughly half what's asked to someone who wants it. I have a number of TV action signs that I got for about $25 - $40, many needing some repair. I see some of these going in the $100 range, some about what I paid, which I note is considerably less than the asking prices I see for beer motion signs.

There is a MUCH bigger market for old signs than for any vintage TV. This sign is likely more rare than a CT-100; it works, and will be reliable. Doesn't take up much space. I couldn't spend nearly that much, but I can certainly see some "high-roller" paying that sort of money.

Relisted for $100 less than before.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I doubt it will get any hits till it is listed in the $300-$400 range, which is a shame since it's BIN. I sent a message asking if he would consider an auction style listing so more people have a chance at it, but no response yet. I don't understand why sellers relist items multiple times trying to find the minimum, why not just have an auction style listing with high reserve? Then people will bid it up, and you can get an idea what people are willing to pay. Makes more sense than wasting your money on listing fees, no?

A sign identical to this one (or maybe it was this one!) was on ebay about
two years ago with a buy it now of $300.00, I was mighty tempted, but just
don't have any more room.
