Seeing that Telecruiser being restored is just so cool! I regret that most likely none of the very few TV mobile units that existed here in my country in the 50's exist anymore.

More DuMont Telecruiser
A Google alert made me aware of this site, so I decided to join. I'm the guy restoring the DuMont Telecruiser. If you have any questions, would like specifics or would like to visit it some time, let me know.
It's been a bigger project than I ever imagined. I've owned a couple of busses before, so I thought I knew what I was getting into. Wrong! The good news is there is now light at the end of the tunnel, and I'm begining to install equipment into the vehicle. Chuck Conrad |

Yes, it is one of the RCA trucks. Chuck Pharis has an RCA he is trying to restore too. RCA made quite a lot of them, but those are the only two that I'm aware of in the USA that have survived. I''ve heard that there is still one in Cuba and possibly others in South America.
In fact, there used to be a ton of remote trucks out there. Sadly, most of them have gone to landfills. If I ever get the Telecruiser finished, I'd like to get my hands on a 1970's or 80's ENG van. That should be a little easier to restore... (I hope). |
