Well I had a little fun with the 24NC31 over the weekend. This screenshot is actually the second time that I had powered it up. After replacing the bad/marginal tubes, the missing circuit breaker and the open thermister I went through the lengthy turn on with my variac with the sweep tubes out.

The electrolytics stayed cool and voltages came up as normal and no spikes in current. Put the vert and horiz outputs in and variac'ed it slowly and I was greeted with a raster!

This time I connected up a source for the first time. After some basic adjustments and a degausing this set is a performer! Besides my repair and some tube changes, this set has not seen much else in servicing and is quite original. Does need the tuner cleaned, recapped etc. but it's at a good starting point.

I'm still looking for an on/off volume and UHF fine tuning knobs though!

WOW! That indeed is the exact Zenith my parents got as our first color TV!!
Would this be considered a 1965 model?

If you ever want to part with this beautiful set, you have a buyer here at the Jersey Shore!

Thanks for the photo and confirming IN COLOR some wonderful memories!

Weren't the "N" models considered to be 1966 models.
Always a great performing set.
