I can fix that!
Please forgive me for stepping out of character and posting something as silly as this to such a staid group of techno types.
With that said, I pose the following question. New TV too big for the old cabinet? I can fix that! |

That actually wouldn't be 100% terrible if they stained the cut off edges.

That just screams Walmart lifestyle!
Along with all the curb side crt sets I have brought home a few high quality entertainment consoles. Not the particle board ones, the oak plywood ones. Its amazing what people will trash just so they can show out their flattie. Hell, lets take out a second on the house so we can look cool. |

MAN! ( slaps forehead ) I did it all wrong when the old 27" 'tron crapped out... I went to the store with a tape measure and determined that a 32" 16:9 flat panel would fit inside the cabinet that we have used for 30 years, with 1/8" to spare on either side. What was I thinking! I could have got me one of them 52 inchers!

Hey, I did something kinda like that. Only I came at the problem a different way... I cut the ends off of the TV to fit it in the cabinet
Okay, I should explain... I found a 1950 RCA at the Goodwill outlet last summer. Of course a cabinet with no insides. There they mark items down every few days and what doesn't sell goes in the dumpster, this set was already down to $1 so I knew where it was headed soon. I drug it home and to my surprise my wife actually liked the cabinet style, so I set out to find a newer set to stick inside with the intension to make it look origional from the outside. I found a Sony on Craigslist that had the perfect size screen, just to get it home and find it didn't quite fit. The speakers are on the side and it was just a little too wide. Of course modifying the 1950 cabinet was out of the question, so I took the speakers out of the tv, set it in the front yard, got out the circular saw and "fixed" it I will be making a 1950-looking mask for it next. |
