Motorola 1956 huge sign mentions color
This is a Chicago Sun-Times photo with info on the back. Dated by the engraving department October 28 1956. Note the touch up of the builidng outline and the crane structure in front.
Motorola saw fit to include COLOR TV on their huge lake-front sign in Chicago when it was updated to add "the world's biggest letter" (M). Since they quickly exited the color business until the 60s, I wonder when they removed the COLOR TV part? Note the remainder of their previous slogan "Better See Motorola TV," which was apparently covered by the new lettering. |

Very cool. I don't remember that sign when I lived there until 1984; I wonder when it was removed?
