Zenith Phantom record changer ?

I checked with the Turntables forum, but not a lot of details on this 1950s Zenith changer made in France of all places. So I'm posting in phonographs page.

Not a changer...it's a manual single play TT and I still think it's cool looking.

The remote control system (or was it just the hand control unit?) for Magnavox's TVs and 3-way entertainment units of the '60s, including their fabulous 25" stereo theatre set also of that time frame, was named "Phantom" as well. I can't help but wonder if Zenith got into trouble with Magnavox years later for copyright infringement; after all, I'm almost certain the "Phantom" name was a copyrighted trademark of the former Magnavox Company, then of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Zenith called it the 'Disc Jockey', but it seems as though collecters have named this unit 'Phantom' for some reason. Maybe because it's so darn scarce ? Certainly among the coolest record players from the 50s.

A local antique shop has one.....I may have to grab it !
