WTB: Zenith Roundy 24NC31Z tuner parts and some knobs.

Hey guys, I went to work on the zenith today and for some reason I cant figure out where the fine tuning adjustment is on the VHF tuner. I think its actually "missing" because There is only 1 shaft and its the channel tuner shaft. thats it. no other gears or anything.

I am also missing the outer knob for the VHF tuner, as well as the power pull knob.

Anyone have the outer knob and power pull knob, and "maybe" a complete VHF tuner assembly, or at least the parts to make the fine tuning work again?

thanks! I havent really messed with the set since 2005 or so, and I had the tuner laying out inside the cabinet all by itself, and I think that was why.

Got a pic of the knobs? I have some Zenith knobs and tuner parts, but I don't know what chassis they are off of.

The knobs are missing.

All I have is the VHF inner knob that USED to be part of the fine tuning shaft which I just figured out is actually missing from the tuner. (tuner was worked on but never put back together).

and then the UHF I have the inner knob, but not the outer pull knob.

But let me take a couple of pics and post them. BRB.

Actually, I think i might be missing the entire knob set for the VHF tuner. I have a picture of one of the knobs laying inside the chassis, but not sure if its correct. I cant really reach it as I cant get on my knees anymore like I used to. Gotta figure out a solution there.

Heres a link to the pics:

The FT shaft is completely missing. Some were made of fiber
& may have broken up with age. Cant blow up pics or I
may be able to see more.
See if anyone has the old Zenith TM or TS manuals.
The tuner part number is 175-### With that you may be able
to find what you need. FT drives I remember were:
1) a small belt & gears.
2) a wish bone shaped thing with gears
3) a paperclip looking thing with gears.
With the TNR out you can FT the set with a little pick but its a PIA.
The knobset is common & also used in rectangles. Just need to
hunt a little. The VC has the "war of the worlds" triad on it.

BTW post the model ## I may be able to find more info.

Models of these chassis series are a bit odd, not Zenith standard.

I have a later model # 21X4122, also seen as 21T2860. I may have extra knobs, based on the front of your model. I cant open the link.

Well, here is a picture of it when I first got it in 2004. If I remember correctly, that top knob was just sitting in there. not connected to anything.

And of course the front knob for the top is missing for both UHF and VHF.

But the VHF knobs are useless until I can find the tuner and/or its parts.

I hear crickets.... Thats not a good sign.

I moved the chassis around and dug out some screws and stuff, I found the tuner shield, and 2 more parts for the tuner.

There is a gear piece which is frozen solid, and the little plastic nylon gear is cracked and spinning freely. That may have been the original problem, I was a teenager then so I cant recall entirely.

Then theres the knob. I am still missing the front knob which was always missing if I recall, and i am missing the shaft with the gear on it.

Snapped a pic and attached it.

I know somebody who might be able to get the parts you need, but we really need to see the 175-xxx number stamped on the tuner.

I've got a VHF knob and an on/off Volume. PM your e-mail and I can send photos.

I had a set like yours and sold it but here is a photo of the knobs on that set. The on/off was plain and not the "War of the Worlds" color triad.
