I don't have the SAM's, but I suspect you're correct. I wouldn't mind having the CRT for one of my Setchell Carlson sets of the same vintage. Problem is I'd then have a hard time pulling the CRT from a hand wired Zenith set. Also that set in the CL ad is right in the neighborhood of where Setchell Carlson were made.

IIRC, the Setchell Carlson sets used a 110 degree CRT, where the Zenith sets of that era used 90 degree CRTs. It has the standard larger neck CRT that have been standard for many years. Also, it's a low G2 CRT.
