Sony trinitron Ev-dt2 video 8/tv
Recently purchased this nearly mint, barely used Trinitron ev-dt2 with the carrying bag. It works perfect and I just thought i'd share.
It also had all the paperwork It had a "tips" foldout and I found this tip particularly amusing |

That is pretty cool. Probably one of the smallest CRT TV/VCR combos out there.

Quite compact
The price was big for back then, but it was a nice gadget. Hope you will make a video with it working. Geah, I wonder how it will be to ride in a train with it and put a cassette. |

I'll make sure to make a video of it working and I'll post it when I do. It does have an adapter to use it in a car so why not use it like that? Its very watchable.

* I didn't have a license then so I was stuck in the back seats....Honda back seats typically hurt after an hour ride and try to cripple you if you spend 8 hours sitting in them... part of the reason I don't want to own a Honda. I wish auto makers would take a cue from my 78 Lincoln and make seats so comfortable that after 8 hours sitting in them you feel like you spent the day in a comfortable couch.

The 8MM video tape format never really caught on in the US asside from in consumer camcorders most of those camcorders could playback through the viewfinder and or supply video to a TV set so a TV/8MM VCR combo would have been a very niche product. I can't imagine they sold many of these....They probably wouldn't have sold well even if they were cheaper than a VHS TV/VCR combo.

Actually the Video 8 format was quite popular from 1985 well into the 2000’s. Just a few devices to play pre-recorded movies or home brew. I have a a collection of Video 8 movies. Other manufacturers made playback devices as well.
CrtsRtubular example looks pristine with excellent images. https://visions4netjournal.com/wp-co...D5ADBBBC3.jpeg https://visions4netjournal.com/wp-co...0F637B1E3.jpeg https://visions4netjournal.com/wp-co...1E82C7248.jpeg https://visions4netjournal.com/wp-co...6A0B0ABD7.jpeg https://visions4netjournal.com/wp-co...A824F04F9.jpeg https://visions4netjournal.com/wp-co...E222BFD60.jpeg

I do remember when 8mm was a popular video camera format, but it too has gone the way of super 8 movie film. Now it all smart phone tech. Come to think of it I haven't even seen someone use a DSLR camera in awhile. But does technology march on. Just means that I'm vintage lol. Yes your find has a very nice picture. It was probably under used as a tv to watch. Nice find.

8mm was not popular outside of camcorders. An 8mm VCR was a rare bird, only a few manufacturers other than Sony produced them. Off the top of my head, Goldstar is all I can think about.
