Rca?
I just came across this picture of an early 1960's color set in an estate sale listing. It appears to be an RCA, but I don't know the model, year of production, or chassis number? It looks like it's in pretty decent condition except for the typical cataract on the crt. What's the value of something like this? They're asking $100 for it. Not sure it's really up my alley....I tend to prefer the earlier sets. Is it worth it?
Thanks. Bob |

Wow, that's a very pretty cabinet! Could it be another CTC-11?

I don't see that model on Ed Reitans Site in the CTC 10 section so probably an 11.
The Closest thing I could find was this set: http://www.novia.net/~ereitan/Galler...wyck%20800.jpg Worth every penny of $100 though in that condition IMO. |

Agreed, get it. It needs the cataract cleaned up and it would greatly improve the look.

Worth every penny. If you don't want I could probably make room for it.
I love my Zenith but I'd like to add a RCA to the family. |

Gee, I donno, a REAL wood cabinet and all... If I were you, I'd wait for one of
the more common MASONITE ones to turn up. Last edited by John Marinello; 11-20-2010 at 09:40 PM. |

Doesn't appear to have a safety glass, so I guess it has to be an -11? They came either way. (my -11 has the glass, and a rebuilt bonded tube with mild cataracts) Chances are it is RCA, but there were some GE clones that used the same crt bezel. (but often turned upside down) It would take an awful nice set to get my $100 these days; if the crt is reasonably strong, this would do it. If it was something besides an RCA I would get it regardless.

Yeah where? If it's in your state the more south in New Jersey the better. The Ford Ranger tv and jukebox getter is gassed up and ready to go.

The knob layout looks like my CTC-11s. The knobs are slightly different, but RCA had various trim flavors for these sets. The plastic bezel looks the same as in my wooden console, with a "New Vista Color" logo on the bottom and an "RCA Victor" logo in the upper left. Seems like it would be within a year or two of my 11s, anyhow. I don't know how much those things changed from year to year.
Being a thrifty soul, I'd test the CRT before plunking down $100. Phil Nelson Last edited by Phil Nelson; 11-22-2010 at 12:25 PM. |

The "color" logo, slightly different then on the CTC-10, at bottom center of the bezel and the RCA logo in the upper left of the bezel along with the 4 knobs at the bottom of the right panel looks to be a CTC-11.

Being a thrifty soul, I'd test the CRT before plunking down $100. Phil Nelson[/QUOTE] That reminds me how I got lucky on the Zenith and that I need a way to check these old CRTs.Is there anyway to make a late model B&K test older roundie picture tubes?I only have sockets for modern tubes.I'm not looking at it right now snce it's at the shop but I think it's a 467.It's a 3 meter and was purchased by the shop in the late 80s. Thanks to all who commented, offered advice, and information regarding this set. You guys can be a tough crowd!!
I've been in contact with the selling agent and made a deal to purchase the set for $75. Attached is another photo the seller sent to me of this set. It's now possible to see the RCA Victor name tag on the upper plate, and the New Vista next to the COLOR tag under the screen. Does the tuning knob look correct? It almost appears that something may be missing? I'm going to pick up the set in about a week. I'll be checking the crt at that time, and if it's DOA I may reconsider the purchase. Thanks again and I'll post some additional pictures when it arrives here in NJ at it's new home. Bob PS (They also have an early Philco console TV for sale. It's kind of pricey. They have it listed at $300, but said they would take $200. Still sounds quite high to me. If anyone is interested, PM me and I'll give you the contact information. It's located in the Philadelphia, PA area.) |

For $75.00, buy it even if the tube is bad. If you don't want it, I'd pay you for it and set up something with U-ship and get it to my house. That's a nice looker, I do think the channel knob is missing but overall, it's very nice.
