A few Nordmende Tannhauser images

Here's my old girl. She's in need of some maintenance but she still makes nice noise.

I hope to someday get her restored but for now she's a back burner project.

Hope you enjoyed the images!

I have always wanted to get my hands on a radio like that. Blaupunkt, Nordmende, Grundig, Telefunken... any of the famous German makes. The only things I'm missing are $$$ and enough space for one.
I did enjoy the pix, so thank you. Good luck on a restoration.

KlipschFan! Here's a service manual on that auction site!

At the very least, you'll see the dial string arrangement!

Thanks OM. I actually bought that complete photofact a couple of years ago but unfortunately for me, it was not for the "Sterling" version.

Close enough for government work though!

Boy that set is in very fine condition!

The Nordmende's seem to have an even glossier or thicker lacquer than the average german set. I have a Turanadot and am impressed by the additional sound options (over and above your standard bass and treble) that Nordmende put in their radios. Like the 'Presence' and 'Brilliance' buttons. I have a similar dial glass on mine and I actually like the German market dial glass better (except for the fact the FM stops at 100)

It's hard NOT to like those German sets...An' hard to say "No !" when you see one in a junk shop somewhere...A large Emud from 1953 started "talking" to me about 1994...It finally wore me down a couple years ago, went to see Dr. Dewick, & plays GREAT now...

I just threw a Normande away when cleaning up It needed some restoration but was not in bad shape at all. Had all Tele's so I took them out.

I feel terrible but it was a bad day and stuff just started flying out as it was in my way. No excuse as I better but we all have our days.

Very nice and hope you enjoy.

Barry

Barry, we have a special place for you. Ya could have offered it through the classifieds to someone on the antique radio group. I'm starting to track older table radios as part of my tracking of shortwaves. Thinking about getting a Atwater Kent similar to the one I had many years ago. My life with the Philips 6731 has re-ignited my interested in AM.

The worst part is I would have been happy to have given it away! It was a very rare moment when I allow something of this to happen. Was just having a bad day and it was in the way. Also ruined a pair of nice old Bozaks on the same day.

In the future, I will post them as I do understand that losing a vintage piece through utter stupidity can't get much worse from someone who knows better! The worst part was it worked. Hopefully, the guys kept it but too late now.

With my head hung in shame,

Barry

RUINED A SET OF BOZAKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The radio I could forgive you for but, Bozaks are another story altogether. I pronounce a life sentence of guilt upon you. Maybe the group should go to your house and remove all of your vintage gear to protect it from such acts. I'll take the K'horns.

My Nordmende has an interesting story too. I got it in Oakland way back in 1990 from a nice old widow who was a customer of Coit at the time and I was her "personal" cleaner for a while..

The lady that gave it to me said (among a few other choice phrases best left off this forum) that she had no living relatives left that would appreciate the thing so she gave it to me. She's probably long gone now but that old tuber still fires up and plays.

It sits proudly atop one of the LaScalas, right next to the modern Denon HT stuff and across the room from the Rotel stuff. My living room is quite the mix of odd gear indeed.

I thought I'd show you my peice

I have waited soo long, to actually show some people that care my radio

I just spent 10 minutes digging it up from under a bunch of clothes, Lp's and moving my Nintendo and Super Nintendo from infront of it along with a bunch of amps that need fixing. Then off came the cover revealing My Nordmende Isabella. This thing is wonder to look at and listen to. Its not the loudest but has great bass and treble response that reveals things in songs you could never hear before...... But enough! Heres some Pictures
It has a 2 inch tweater, 2 x 4 inch mids and 8 inch bass driver in each speaker.

I would LOVE to have a radio like that. I just fall for the looks of those radios, but I know that their prices will keep them away from me for a while.
