I do enjoy "How It's Made" via Youtube.

Wonder why less people are watching TV these days.
I miss the practice in Fibber McGee & Molly, Jack Benny, etc. of there being one sponsor with a spot in the middle of the show done live with clever heckling of the spokes person by the show's talent. Commercials today are so bad that %45 are so dopey I can spoof them in my sleep, %45 are too irritating to stay tuned to, and the remaining are only so-so.

It would be nice if when companies advertised something they sold it on merit/features/specs/quality/longevity/relative value instead of the 'we did something whacky and random, now buy our product' appeal to idiots they mostly do.

Never saw this program, sorry to say. I wonder if it ran in Chicago? In 70's Chicago, when one of the independent UHF's went on the air and needed free program material, they had a program called "Films With a Mind of Their Own" that showed industrial films, with the Tribune's film/TV critic hosting.

It ran from 1950 to 1960. Over 500 episodes.

Here's one about the Mobil Economy Run. There are a few others on YouTube.

From an old local CBS guy in broadcasting. Sunday morning was always a combination of news..."Meet the Press" on NBC is the leader to this day...and other network non-news programming of the same to help the locals keep their license. Those non-news shows were in the ilk of "See it Now" and "Lamp Unto my Feet" (first as afternoon) from my CBS history. Religious or historical in bent and valuable to the locals license renewal.
