dont think it matters what he paid for it-it matters what someone is willing to pay him for it.good investment actually.it probably will never decrease in value.this guy knows what he has.he may be playing "dumb" to drop a hook in your mouth.i ve dealt with these kinds before.if they have been in the business awhile, then they know what they are doing.sly, slick and can create a story or personality to fit the situation.you got to admire the greedy,back-stabbing,money-grubbing weasels.i am one them myself!

Well, no matter what we think, this guy is doing what he must to make a buck. Doesn't really matter how sneaky or honest he may or may not be, he's makin a living. Hell, he's probably been reading everything we say here and likely getting a good laugh from it. Even if he wasn't aware of this site, it sure wouldn't take a lot of effort to stumble across this thread by doing a simple google search.
In addition, here's an opportunity for someone to pick up a CT100... possibly for a decent price. Even though the set doesn't work and likely has a toasted 15G, it's still an item to be proud of owning. If the set were closer, I'd probably try at it. I think anyone that lives in the region should attempt going for it. These babies don't pop up every day ya know. Unfortunately, we don't know the history of it, and it's possible we may never find out. Not really important at this point I suppose. Once the auction is over and the new owner takes it home, that person becomes another chapter in the set's history. For now, that's all that matters.

Actually, at least part of the history of this set is known. The "previous owner" is a member here and I will leave it up to him to share it if he wishes. I would have restored this set for him had the CRT been good. I saw the set in person a few years ago and from what I remember it was complete and in good condition.

Like Steve K mentioned, some of the history of the set is known, as the previous owner is a good guy and forum member who would probably share what he knows about the set with the new owner. The current owner is also a good guy, and while he does deal in antiques, he enjoys them as much as we do, and is into everything old including his 1800's house and 1910-1940 cars.
While he does know what he has, he is certainly not out to gouge anyone with a no reserve auction and could potentially take a loss, not that I know what he has into it. Darryl Last edited by tubesrule; 11-08-2009 at 01:29 PM. |

Ok, you can blame me for the photos! Im sure he had other requests for photos though. I emailed the seller and he responded telling me that he put up new pics this evening. It looks excellent inside, very clean.

That' looks really clean!
Is the number on the lid supposed to match the cabinet? Cabinet is 18, lid is 504. Are those numbers serials for the cabinet? |

So does this mean that the cabinet is a mix-match of parts from other sets?

We all know him, and in following with the others, I haven't said his name. Isn't he on AK? He's bought many sets from me, and my entire vintage VCR collection several years ago. In fact, I have a set I'm holding for him that he bought from me on eBay last year. Needs to get to him! Charles

$2405 it went for. Very nice. It would be nice to have one of those in the collection someday. However, nothing is more enjoyable to me than my worthless 1960's color TV collection.
