It's a roundie again!

Been working hard getting this TV put back together. It's not a '63 original because it has a 25MC33 chassis. I guess now it's a 1965 "Warren" model. I had a spare 25mc33 chassis, bezel, etc.. I pulled from a poor condition, damaged cabinet back in '04. Came out of a Barn and really showed it's age and horrible storage condition. Luckily everything lined up without needing to drill any mounting holes, Even the chassis bolt locations matched! I still have the '63 bezel, convergence board, tuner and misc stuff so if I ever find a 63 chassis I can get it back to 100% original. At least for now it's a '65 roundie and it works and looks great.

That looks fantastic Nice picture too....When grief kicks it really does throw you and affects your thinking/thought processes, don't be too hard on yourself for initally gutting that set and putting a modern chassis inside, and like you said if the original chassis had all those problems and then caught fire, I don't blame you for getting drastic with it. What you've done with it now is great, there's nothing like making a modification that works so well. Cheers Glen

@Classicradios
Nice job on the "pseudo-Warren".

Please tell me more about that arcing 3AT2 HV compactron socket (what would cause that and how to correct it)- I'm getting ready to fix a newly-acquired 5317U/24MC32 and don't want anything to go wrong in the HV section.

One other question: anyone out there know the model "name" for the 5317*U ? (not sure which * I have, the cabinet back just says "5317U")

The arcing in my compactron was a result of a failed resistor followed by the scorching of the socket, I think.

It's a '63 Again, Almost.

I pulled the Original CRT, CRT mounting Plate, Bezel and Tuner Etc.. from Storage and put it back together again. It looks original from the outside and the only change inside is the 25mc33 chassis. Fit perfectly with no additional holes made, Even the chassis bolt holes all ligned up! I attached a few new photos of the TV in my TV room along with a few other sets.

The peacock is from the 1970 TV special "Tribute to America" starring John Wayne.
